The chances of getting side effects of nausea and vomiting is dependent on the type of drugs being consumed, with certain types being more prone to causing side effects than others. Taking into consideration certain chemotherapy drugs such as Adriamycin (doxorubicin) and Platinol (cisplatin) when taken without proper averting treatment would have more than ninety percent chances of leading to side effects, while medicines such as methotrexate / Navelbine (vinorelbine) have a ten percent probability of causing nausea and vomiting.

Along with the form of drugs being consumed, certain other factors have a bearing on one’s possibility of falling sick that include the following risk elements:

  • Those on high chemotherapy drugs dosage or who are employing intravenous means of drug administration that are readily taken in by the body.
  • Those undergoing numerous chemotherapy sessions with miniscule recuperation time between them, raises the chances of developing nausea.
  • Normally seen in women and those below the age of fifty years.
  • Those with a past of motion sickness or more likely to vomit during sickness.
  • Not consuming alcohol.

One needs to consult with the doctor concerned, if one is in doubt regarding being at greater risk of developing side effects. The doctor might prescribe certain nausea curbing medicines prior to commencing chemotherapy sessions.
