How Is Scleredema Treated?

Scleredema adultorum is a rare skin disease known to cause thickening of the skin in body areas like neck, head and other upper regions of the body. According to experts and specialists over the world , this disease is an after effect of medical conditions like diabetes, myelomas and certain infections. The most evident symptoms experienced by a person distressed with this condition are malaise, high body temperature, joint pain, muscle pain and muscle pain. Most of the times, this condition appears like a self-limited disease which dies its death after a certain interval. However, in a few rare or uncommon cases, this disease may persist for a long period of time and also involve the viscera.

ScleredemaThe step towards the treatment of Scleredema is the initiation of a series of an appropriate antibiotic which would kill the infestation of the proliferating bacteria, if any, inside the body. However, this medicine only terminates the presence of bacteria and plays no significant role in relieving the lesions and other physical symptoms. In case the person is detected with diabetes or blood dyscrasias, proper methods should be adopted to nib these conditions that lead to the progression of this skin condition. Efforts should be made to immediately treat the sugar level of the body lest the gravity of this skin condition aggravates further. Further, many doctors also associate internal malignancies like malignant insulinoma, carcinoma of the gall bladder and more as the main triggers of the disorder. Once the patient is detected with any form of these contributors, immediate steps should be taken to first treat these internal conditions.

Apart from the medicines, patients should be prescribed a stream of topical creams and ointments which can offer immediate relief from the itching or burning sensation on the lesions. Further, a proper personal hygiene should be maintained with special attention towards keeping the lesion area dry and clean. At last, the surrounding should be kept clean and free from environmental pollution and dirt.
