Electric Shot In The Neck – Novel Way Of Easing Asthma Attacks

The electrode is introduced inside the skin at the side of the neck lying just above where the vagus nerve is located. Electrical impulses are transmitted through the device for activating it that is deemed to hinder the nerve cell activities that are the reason behind the constriction of the airways.

The use of this device in hospitals would majorly aid in relaxing the smooth muscles present in the airways and relieve a major part of the broncho-restriction that many patients with moderate to extreme asthma attacks suffer from by swifter delivery of the inhalation medication.

A trial is on-going in the Washington University of Medicine and many important asthma treatment locations in the United States, the outcome of which is expected to be effectual and safe for treating chronic attack patients in hospitals.

Conditions that have been noted to have an undue effect on breathing like chronic bronchitis and emphysema are being treated with Vitamin D for allaying the symptoms. Vitamin D is believed to diminish inflammation in the airways and bolster immunity.
